The Brunton L3 has been designed from the ground-up for hikers, campers, fishers, hunters, & spelunking. Features such as a mode cycle switch that starts at the power save level so that you not only conserve battery power, but protect your night vision. A water resistant, anti-reflective body with tilting head, ergonomic AA battery housings on the headband, and ample power in a detachable 'C' battery belt pack.
While other manufacturers offer headlamps with 3-watt bursts of 20 seconds, the L3 provides 3-watt performance for up to 140 hours. The Brunton L3 incorporates special circuitry & cooling fins to prevent the 3W LED lamp head from overheating.
What's the big deal with LEDs?...
The great thing about LEDs is that they are a solid state device, and as such are incredibly difficult to break, and they are not subject to burn-out like standard halogen & incandescent bulbs. Compare the 100,000 hour run time of an LED against the several thousand hours on a halogen bulb.
So, they are tough, and last a long time. But perhaps even more important is their miserly use of battery power. An LED consumes about 1/10th the amount of power as a halogen in producing the same amount of light. When battery run time & headlamp performance is important to you, choose an LED headlamp.
