Gerber took their popular SoftGrip® overmold material and altered it—making it smooth while still maintaining the tacky grip when wet. Then they added tread to the top portion of the handle.

The strength in the handle comes from a base of glass-filled nylon and stainless steel. Tread is one of the most capable everyday knives you'll ever carry.
