Frequently asked questions
How long will it take for the BatterySAVER SE to charge a dead battery?
Depending on battery age, type and condition, the natural rate of loss on a new battery represents a small fraction of one percent per month. The BatterySAVER SE 2W is designed to compensate for these losses plus any additional losses due to on board electronic instrumentation such as clocks and alarms.
What types of batteries can I trickle charge?
You can trickle charge all types of 12 Volt batteries including automotive batteries, deep cycle (traction) batteries, gel-cell batteries, and heavy-duty (stationary) batteries.
Can I overcharge my battery with the BatterySAVER SE 2W?
The BatterySAVER SE will not overcharge a vehicle battery due to the voltage it operates at, and the amount of power it generates.
Can the BatterySAVER SE be left outdoors?
Yes, but it should be treated with silicon sealant around the glass and plastic edges. This is necessary as the BatterySAVER PLUS was designed to sit on the dashboard inside your vehicle, and has not been weatherproofed. Outdoor use without weatherproofing will void the warranty.
Can I attach the BatterySAVER PLUS directly to the battery?
In situations where the cigarette (or power) socket is inactive while the vehicle is off, it may be necessary to attach the panel directly to the battery. This may be done by cutting off the cigarette lighter attachment and attaching the stripped wires directly to the battery (Negative to Negative (Black to Black) and Positive to Positive for safety install a 3 Amp fuse on the positive wire).
If you don't want to cut off the cigarette lighter adapter, just acquire a female cigarette socket extension wired with clamps (available at most hardware stores). Attach this directly to the battery.
Can I trickle charge more than one battery at a time with the BatterySAVER PLUS?
The BatterySAVER PLUS may be used to trickle charge more than one of the smaller battery types, such as batteries for; snowmobiles, motorcycles, or ATV's etc. However it is not designed to maintain more than one automobile battery at a time.
