Exstream XR Bottle
The only EPA registered water 'purifier' bottle
By Katadyn (8011707)
The folks at Katadyn have designed what could be considered the ultimate water bottle for outdoor sports. The Exstream XR. Unlike other filter bottles, the Exstream XR actually purifies your drinking water as you drink from the bottle. Ingenious!
We'll start this description by saying that the Katadyn Exstream XR is not some huge, awkward ceramic & steel contraption. The Exstream is a standard 32oz (950ml) bottle, and fits into standard bike bottle cages. But inside, the bottle houses a 3-stage virustat purification system that removes just about everything but the water.
The Exstream is effective against...
Cysts (ie. cryptosporidia, giardia)
Bacteria (ie. e.coli, fecal coliform)
Viruses
The Exstream is also effective in removing a wide range of specific chemical contaminants, foul tastes, & odors. The Exstream goes far beyond what ordinary filter bottles do to protect you from water-borne illnesses.
The Exstream XR comes with a handy bite valve for hands-free opening of the drinking straw, & a carry loop for attaching it to your pack, vest or kayak. Check the performance specs, and our buying guide to compare the Exstream's performance against other purifiers, and you'll see that for outdoor sports, the performance of the Exstream is matched only by its convenience.
Who's buying?...
The Katadyn Exstream XR is used by paddlers, hikers, day hikers, climbers, & others who appreciate the convenience of not having to pump every time they need a drink of fresh, purified water.
