EL-8 Solar Headlamp
Charge by day for light in the dark... and more
by New Options (EL-8)
Headlamps burn through batteries. Anyone who uses a headlamp knows the challenges. High power xenon halogen lamps eat battery packs, and even the newest powerful LED headlamps with their wonderful efficiency, still run down a set of batteries within hours. But, now there is a headlamp that provides its own power, and does not use batteries. It's the EL-8, and its popularity is soaring because of its amazing versatility.
It's a bright 5-LED headlamp
Five bright white LEDs (very pale cool white) illuminate everything in front of you up to approx 10m (30ft). On the power-save mode, the light is only about half as bright, but conserves battery power. There is also a flash mode.
It's a portable power source
Because it has an onboard battery pack, the EL-8's clever designers decided to provide several ways to use the power aside from simply running the headlamp. You can get a 5V adaptor kit, USB port cable, or 12V outlet socket for the EL-8 that lets you run/charge almost any small electronic devices with the power stored in the headlamp... just like the other Everlite products: EL-7 Mini Everlite, EL-6 Compact Everlite, & EL-5 Deluxe Everlite lamp.
How does a solar charged light work in the dark?
Extremely well. The EL-8's solar panel plugs into the lamp head to provide a charge from sunlight. If you are a hiker or a camper, simply hang the panel on your backpack. When evening comes, and you need the light to cook dinner, use the bathroom (bushes) at midnight, or find your way down the trail, put on the headlamp with the bright LED's blazing for hours.
Do you need sunlight to make the EL-8 headlamp work?
No.
First, it charges during daylight hours via the solar panel - times when you don't need the light. It can also charge using an optional 12V DC adaptor for your car, or optional AC adaptor for your home.
Intelligent features
The EL-8 comes with the following handy features..
Battery status light
This is a gas gauge for the EL-8, letting you know when the battery is running low.
Photo Cell auto on/off switch
The EL-8 is equipped with a Photo Cell switch, which enables it to turn itself on when the ambient light fades. Simply press the main on/off button twice to enter the auto mode.
Power Jack
Connect the headlamp to the mini solar panel, or the optional DC plug, or AC adaptor to charge it. Or use the power jack to operate small electronics by plugging in the optional 5V adaptor set, USB port, or 12V car socket.
