Solar Uno Color Solar charger for digital audio & USB devices
By SolarFocus (SolarUno Color)
The SolarUno Color is a new solar power solution for small portable electronics. Lightweight, durable, water-resistant construction. Charge your USB devices day or night!
The SolarUno Color differs slightly from the Solio in its approach to charging your iPod, Pocket PC, PDA, Razr, or Blackberry directly from ordinary daylight. Rather than having a built-in Li-Ion battery pack to make up for low daylight or charging at night, the SolarUno lets you charge & draw power from two NiMh rechargeable AAA batteries that snap into the back of the SolarUno.

The Solar Uno Color is the only Uno model to feature a closed battery compartment, providing additional water resistance. The Solar Uno Color also features a silicone skin that protects the unit from bumps & drops.
How does it work?...
Simple. The SolarUno provides solar electric power to a standard USB port to which you can plug any small electronics. Charge any device that can charge from your computer's USB port. This includes iPods, PDAs, Blackberrys, Razrs, and more. This is a regulated 5V USB port, and is safe regardless of the sunlight intensity.
Plug in your USB device and flip the switch. Even in partial sun, the SolarUno is able to charge, extending your battery life or even operating your device direct from the sun's energy. When the sun goes down, the Solar Uno uses the solar power stored in its two NiMh rechargeable batteries to provide additional power to your devices.
Who's buying?...
The SolarUno has found popularity with people who enjoy their digital audio player outdoors, or want to keep their PDA phone & palm PCs charged wherever they go. Attach it to your pack, golf bag, or bike for power on the go. You will find it hard to run down your battery during summer daylight hours when you have the Solar Uno.
More than just a good idea...
Stop killing your Li-Ion iPod, Blackberry or Razr battery by letting them run-down for too long between chargings. The SolarUno gives you the power you need when away from your home & PC.
Yes. The SolarUno will use both solar & battery to power your USB devices. If the solar panel provides enough power, the excess is used to charge the batteries. If the solar panel cannot keep up, the batteries will make up the shortage.
Can I use the SolarUno at night?
Yes. The power captured by the solar panel is stored in NiMh batteries for use anytime day or night.
Can I recharge/power any USB device?
Yes. So far we have tested the Uno with a wide range of USB devices, and they all worked normally. Cameras, battery chargers, iPods, mp3 players, & more.
What batteries does the Uno use?
The Uno uses two 'AAA' NiMh rechargeable batteries. While it will work with NiCd rechargeables, we always recommend the far more eco-friendly NiMh type. DO NOT use alkaline batteries with the Uno.
Do I have to use the AAA batteries?
No. The Uno will work fine as a straight solar USB port too, which is great if you have a battery fail, or forget to bring them. But remember that you will only get the output level that the panel can provide from the daylight conditions. Some devices won't care about lower power input, others will. All devices will charge slower without the batteries helping.
You will also want the batteries to store the sun's power when you aren't charging anything. Saves the power for later use.
Does the SolarUno come in other styles?
Yes. Choose between the Solar Uno Slim, Solar Uno Sunny (Orange or Green), and the Solar Uno Color.
