Small & light
This charger is small & light, and easy to pack along. The AC outlet prongs fold down, the unit is only about 2 x 2 x 3" in size, and weighs next to nothing.
Using with solar
Simply plug the charger's cigarette adaptor into your solar panel, and place the panel in the sun. Note that for solar-direct use, the panel must put out a minimum of 5 Watts. This means that a panel of 7 watts or more is recommended for reasonable charging times.
For better performance with solar, use an intermediate battery pack like the Solo 7.5 to capture all the solar power and allow the charger to operate at full speed. You'll waste less solar power, and be able to charge at any time of day or night. The Voltaic Battery Pack works great for 3.6 & 3.7V Olympus batteries, but will not support the charger for 7.2v / 7.4v battery charging like the Solo 7.5 will. |
