Modern Outpost has been outfitting Canadians with solar power equipment for years - if you purchase a charger from us, you can expect full warranty & product exchange privileges. We are a Canadian company, based in Canada, serving clients & their portable power needs throughout Canada, the US, and beyond.
We trust that you will find what you are looking for on this special Apple charger feature page.
The equipment you need...
1. Flexible solar panel
2. Solar storage battery
3.
Voltage adaptor (MacBooks use 16V or 19V depending on the model)
4.
MacBook magsafe connector.
Your MacBook will plug & play from this system as easily as it does at home. But by not using AC power, you will save power & money.
Sometimes, we can can solve two problems with one product. For example, some solar storage batteries offer a variety of output voltages, thereby eliminating the need for a separate voltage adapter.
A. THE TOP MACBOOK SOLUTIONS...
Tekkeon myPower All 3450 & 3450i
This battery offers a very efficient solar panel interface unit, variable output voltages, USB port, iPad USB option, car 12V DC input & output options, and dedicated MagSafe connector option. Fantastic all-in-one battery kit.
The 3450
comes in two flavors: 3450 R2, and 3450i R2 (with dip switch voltage settings). An expansion pack is available if you want to double your storage capacity.
Brunton Sustain / Impel
These batteries are the rugged ones, designed for taking bumps. They offer 12V, 16V, & 19V settings, 12V input & output connectors, plus an Apple-friendly USB port.
To use either of these two batteries with your MacBook, you have two configuration options...
a. 'Power' your MacBook, but not 'charge' it using Apple's standard Airline MagSafe Adaptor. Simply set the Brunton battery's output voltage to the 16V or 19V your particular MacBook model needs, and plug in.
b. 'Power/Charge' your MacBook using a MacBook-ready 12V DC voltage adaptor.
Choose a panel for either of these two battery platforms to meet your run time requirements. Here's a guide...
