The Helio will charge quietly just by leaving in a bright window. When you run the Helio down, simply use the hand crank for a quick charge.

The best of two worlds...

Solar flashlights are a nice idea. Leave them on the window sill, and they will be charged & ready when you need them. But what happens when you drain the flashlight on one long, dark, stormy night? Not so easy to charge it up again quickly.

Dynamo flashlights solve the issue of immediate charging. But the drawback here is that you need to do some cranking before you can use it. Just when you need to be finding the fuse box!
