How Does This DIY Solar Charger Case Kit Work?

Simply plug your iPhone, Android, or any other USB device into the battery, and you have unlimited energy from the sun! Power flows from the solar panel to the battery, and out to your device according to its needs. When the sun is bright, most of the energy from the solar panel goes to your device. When the sun is weak, the battery makes up the difference. Either way, your phone, tablet, GPS, camera, or audio set get the power they want.

The 5.5 Watt 6 Volt solar panel is lightweight, waterproof and easily mountable for medium term (5-7 year) outdoor applications. Pair with a Voltaic battery pack or charge a 1S LiIon or LiPO4 cell. The panel features:

Building Your Own Solar Backpack or Case

We recommend using small grommets to secure any holes you need to put through your backpack’s canvas/nylon. These can be purchased for pennies at your local sewing store. Size them to fit the attachment mini-bolts (approx 3mm diameter). We also recommend cutting small 1cm round rubber disks to act as waterproof gaskets between the solar module’s attachment mini-bolts & your case material. The nuts are threaded onto the mini-bolts on the inside of your case to secure the module tightly to the outside.
